Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 review (2026)

Verdict: The sweet spot of the whole portable power station market: 1kWh of LFP capacity, 1500W output with 3000W surge, at a weight and price that undercut everything comparable. If one power station has to cover storms, camping and garden offices alike, it’s this one.

What it gets right

The v2 fixed the original’s two weaknesses: LFP chemistry (4,000 cycles means a decade of weekly use) and real surge headroom — 3000W starts fridges, power tools and pumps that trip smaller units. An hour to full charge means it’s never not-ready, and 10.8kg keeps it one-handed portable.

What to know before buying

No expandable capacity — what you buy is what you get, so whole-home ambitions need the DELTA class instead. The app is functional rather than delightful, and UPS switchover (~20ms) is fine for routers and laptops but not guaranteed for desktop PCs under load. At full 1500W draw it empties in ~40 minutes — physics, not flaw, but worth internalising.

Who it’s for

Households wanting one do-everything unit for power cuts and leisure, fridge-backup buyers (that 3000W surge is the spec that matters), and anyone who found the 500-class too small but baulks at 2kWh money.

Context: our 1000 v2 vs RIVER 2 Pro comparison covers the step-down question, the home backup guide the step-up, and the fridge guide the classic use-case.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Jackery 1000 v2 run a fridge?

Yes — the 3000W surge rating handles compressor start-up that trips smaller units, and a typical UK fridge's 50-150W running draw gives roughly 6-14 hours per charge, longer with the fridge's own duty cycling.

How long does the Jackery 1000 v2 take to charge?

About one hour from the wall in fast mode — among the quickest in class — or all day from a 200W solar panel in decent conditions.

Is the Jackery 1000 v2 better than the original 1000?

Meaningfully: LFP chemistry quadruples cycle life, surge output doubles, charging is 5x faster and it's lighter. The v2 is a different, better machine.

What can't the Jackery 1000 v2 do?

Expand — capacity is fixed at 1,070Wh. Multi-day whole-home backup needs the expandable DELTA 3 Max Plus class; our home backup guide covers that tier.
